Democracy in the Nerves
The modern
science confirms the gene theory. There is something that’s in the genes and is
automatically inherited no matter what the conditions are. The actual
manifestation of the gene depends on the conducive environment it receives. Since
long time, seeing all the latest developments of the Indian political system I
am all the more convinced now that Democracy, Peaceful Struggle against Injustice
and Self Correction is something in the Indian genes. Each country has its own
history and a culture and so is ours. But the amalgamation of the varied
diversified cultures, traditions and values that the Indian society at large
has taken is just awe-strucking.
Aryans,
Dravidians, Mongolians, Afganis, Parsis, Europeans, Mughals, Indigenous Tribals……………………..and
the list is endless. If asked as to what is the native breed in India, I think
it’s just just not possible to name any one. The very concept of Hindustani or
Indian (in more modern terms) is the amalgamation of the all the varied
cultures. With so many kingdoms, dynasties, rulers, the native Indianess has
evolved after centuries of resilience to all the external shocks and inner
strength of solidarity. Hats off to such a culture and such a breed……
And then
comes the basic gene theory back of Democratization. Democracy is something in
the genes, something in the nerves. All of us are self centered, running after
families, careers, money etc but to a limit. The limit there is a threshold,
everything takes a back seat and then comes the subconscious revolutionary,
sacrificial Indian. The actual phenomenon of the AAP culture is a recent
manifestation of the same. Tired after years of stagnation, self centeredness
with corruption reaching a certain height, the blood boiled and there comes the
anger of the common man back on stage. How long will the success story of the
party last is for all of us to watch, but none the less the Self Correction that the emergence of the
party has brought is an unparalleled achievement in itself.
Serving by
example is a long held Indian value. “Hum Badlenge, Jag Badlega” and the party definitely
proved the point. The beginning of end of VIP culture, cleaner politics, lesser
corruption, humility towards the common man and Youth Activism is something
that we could clearly see blooming.
